Driver's Age
The minimum driver’s age is 23 years . No young driver fee will be applied.
The maximum driver’s age is 75 years old. No Senior driver fee will be applied.
Additional Drivers
Additional drivers are free of charge. All additional drivers must meet the same license and age requirements as the main driver.
Driver’s License
Driver must present a full and valid driving license that should be valid with no major endorsements, and at least 2 year of driving experience is required.
Antigua Temporary Driver’s Permit is mandatory under local law. This permit may be obtained at the rental desk at a fee of $20 per driver and is valid for a period of three (3) months.
Insurance Coverage
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
CDW is not included in your rental. The renter is fully responsible in case of any damage to the vehicle. Customers are fully responsible for any damages to the rental vehicle unless a police report establishes they were not at fault.
Theft Waiver (THW)
THW is not included in your rental. The renter is fully responsible in case of any damage to the vehicle.
A valid police report is mandatory in case of theft.
Third Party Liability (TPL)
Third Party Liability (TPL) is included in the rental and provides coverage for third-party personal injury or death up to $755,000 and third-party property damage up to $188,000.
Excess Reduction Options
Additional insurance options are available at the rental desk to reduce the excess:
RCDW (Reduced Collision Damage Waiver) (optional):
The customers may purchase Reduced Collision Damage Waiver (RCDW) at the rental desk which lowers the renter’s liability for damage or theft of the vehicle and reduces the deposit requirement.
· Liability is limited to $2,000, and the deposit is reduced to $250.
· $10 per day – Small and compact vehicles
· $15 per day – SUVs and specialty vehicles
For any other coverage options, please consult with the rental office.
Transferable Insurance Coverage
Customers may use their own personal or credit card insurance with no additional fee. To do so, they must provide valid proof of coverage at the rental desk. Acceptable documentation includes:
1. A current insurance declaration page showing active policy dates and coverage limits; or
2. A valid insurance ID card issued by their insurer; or3. A written coverage letter from their insurance provider specifically confirming that rental cars in Antigua are covered under the policy.
Requirements:
· Insurance must cover at least $50,000 in liability or a minimum of 75% of the vehicle’s value.
· Insurance must be valid for the entire rental period.
· Customers may present insurance from any country. While outside insurance is accepted, any charges for loss or damage will be applied directly to the customer’s credit card. It is the customer’s sole responsibility to seek reimbursement from their insurer.I
f the provided insurance does not meet these requirements, the renter will be fully responsible for any loss or damage unless optional RCDW is purchased at the rental desk.
Important Notice:
1. In the event of an accident, the customer must immediately notify both the police and the rental agency. Where possible, the vehicle should not be left unattended until assistance arrives. Please note that in Antigua, customers do not receive accident reports immediately. Accident reports must be requested from Police Headquarters by either the insurance company or the rental agency, and an additional fee may apply, particularly for expedited requests. Failure to follow these procedures will render any insurance coverage void.
2. If the accident or damage takes place in a rural area, the lessee must proceed to give a statement at the nearest Judicial or Police authority in the area and submit all documentation provided (statement report) to our rental office. It is mandatory to submit the corresponding statement made to the competent judicial authority indicated in the official ticket, for purposes of coverage implementation and effectiveness.
3. Vandalism damages, tow truck and road assistance due to negligence is not included.
4. Insurance does not cover damages of any type caused by driving through rivers, lakes, beaches, mangroves, and flooded roads or off-road, this will void any insurance coverage and customers would be responsible for damages.
5. No coverage covers if the driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the event.
6. No coverage applies when a rented vehicle is driven by an unauthorized driver.
7. CDW coverage does not cover, vandalism damage, glass damage, flat tires, wheels, keys or accessories. In the event that the damage is caused by factors other than a collision with another vehicle, THE CUSTOMER must assume full responsibility for the damage to the rented vehicle.
8. Damages caused to the inside of the vehicle, including upholstery of the car, loss of car’s keys or documents, license plates, emergency kits, tyres, rim damage, cigarette burns are not included in the insurance. Charges apply according to the cost of repair or replacement, as assessed.
9. The renter and any additional drivers are absolutely liable for any loss or damage to the rental vehicle, even when the loss or damage is caused by a third party or in the event the cause is unknown, whether because of theft, collision, vandalism or any other cause.
10. Credit card details are held on file in case of any toll route, parking violations, traffic violations, and will be authorized to charge for these reasons.
Vehicle Condition
You must return the vehicle in the same condition as it was in when you received it, minus the normal wear and tear. The Supplier will charge you at their own rates for any excessive staining/soiling and/or for both internal and external damage (including strong smells). You are responsible for inspecting the vehicle upon pick-up/drop-off and for the cost of any new damage found at the end of your rental period.
Off-road driving
Off-road driving is strictly prohibited. The vehicle may only be used on paved, public roads. Any damage resulting from off-road use will not be covered by insurance and will be fully charged to the customer.
Breakdown Assistance
Breakdown assistance is available free of charge 24/7.Relevant contact details and roadside assistance procedures will be provided prior to the start of the rental.
Other Fees:
1. Airport surcharge are included on the price.
2. If the vehicle keys are lost or stolen, a fee of $200-$500 will apply depending from the vehicle model.
3. You are responsible for the cost of any parking fines, tolls and other penalties incurred whilst the vehicle is contracted to you.The rental office will pass the relevant charges on to you plus any administrative expenses.
4. In case of loss of original vehicle documents, a fee of $10 will apply.
5. If the wrong fuel is used, the renter is responsible for all associated repair costs.
6. If car is returned extremely dirty, a charge of $50 will apply.
7. Smoking in the vehicle is strictly prohibited. A fee of $50 will apply if smoking is detected.
Fuel Policy
Full to Full
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel at the start of the rental and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, a fee of $45 will be charged. This fee covers both the cost of refueling and administrative handling. Unused fuel is non-refundable. Fuel charges must be settled at the rental desk unless otherwise specified. Customers are advised to confirm the fuel policy at the rental counter at the time of pick-up.
Tax Rate
Tax is included in the rental price.
Payment Methods
Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted, and the card must be in the main driver’s name when paying at the rental desk. Debit cards are also accepted. Diners Club is not accepted.
Cash payments are not accepted under any circumstances.
Deposit
A security deposit of $500 is required for all rentals. The deposit must be provided on a valid credit card in the main driver’s name. Debit cards, prepaid cards, and third-party cards are not accepted for the deposit.
Delivery and Collection
Delivery and collection services are available for island wide.
Out of Hours
Out of hours services are available with a fee of 50 USD per pickup and drop off.
One Way Drop-Off Charge
A one-way drop-off is free of charge and should be arranged in advance.
Cross Border Travel
Leaving the island is strictly prohibited. Violations will result in penalties.
Grace Period
For vehicle pick-up: A 1-hour grace period is allowed free of charge. After this period, the booking will be considered a no-show or a vehicle will be provided if availability allows.
For vehicle return: A 30 minutes grace period is allowed from the scheduled drop-off time. After that, a fee of $10/hour will apply.
Extras
Confirmation of Special Equipment depends upon the availability at the rental desk.
